METDRA Metall- und Drahtwarenfabrik GmbH in Leonberg has been producing high-quality products with state-of-the-art processes and equipment since 1963. Established in 1963 by Hermann Hörning, this wire and metal fabricator is currently managed by Marga Hörning, Hermann’s wife, and Peter Hörning, his son, who helps shape the future of Leonberg as an active member of the local business chamber. Originally, METDRA only produced wire refrigerator shelves and freezer baskets. Over time, it expanded its business and broadened its product range to its current variety.
METDRA has three main lines of business: workpiece carriers, retail displays and outdoor furniture.
Workpiece carrier systems find use in fully automated production lines, where they reduce labor costs and enable the use of cutting-edge handling equipment such as industrial robots.
METDRA wire workpiece carriers are ideal for applications that demand meticulous cleaning, tight tolerances and workpiece carriers that take up as little space as possible. Special plastic inserts allow parts to be transported even if they have delicate surfaces or complex shapes. Carrier systems are manufactured in lots of 50 to 5,000 units and are almost exclusively used by carmakers and auto parts suppliers. This segment has grown dramatically, reflecting the push for greater automation and process reliability in the automotive industry. METDRA workpiece carriers enjoy strong demand outside of Germany, too.

METDRA has constantly expanded and refined its outdoor furniture range since 1982. Now an industry leader, it has acquired a strong reputation for products of outstanding quality and fit accuracy.
Its product range includes bench systems, individual furniture, tables, trash cans, ash trays and bike racks that help make plazas, train stations and pedestrian malls more functional and pleasant. Its chairs and benches are ergonomically shaped to encourage a relaxed sitting posture and feature armrests so people can stand up easily even if they have disabilities or age-related infirmities. METDRA furnishings are made from steel, stainless steel, tubing, wire or sheet metal for maximum weather resistance. Seating surfaces can be made from wire mesh, perforated sheet metal, tubing or wood.
All steel parts are generally galvanized and covered in multiple coats of façade-quality material to ensure an extremely long service life despite harsh weather conditions. Customers can choose from twelve standard RAL hues, but the in-house powder coating plant can apply custom hues to just about any product.
